Privacy Policy

The short version. Your kids' names, birthdays, photos, tasks and points are kept on your devices and in your own iCloud. We do not have a copy and we cannot read them. There are no ads, no trackers and no analytics in Atta Kid, and nothing about your family is sold or shared.
What is on your devices
Everything the app is for: each kid's name, birthday, the picture you picked or took for them, their tasks and challenges, what they have ticked off, their points, rewards, wishes and how their week went. The parent PIN lives here too. None of it is sent to us.
What is in your iCloud
So that a parent's phone and a kid's iPad show the same family, Atta Kid mirrors that same data into the private database of your iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit. It is your storage, under your Apple Account, and it is subject to Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it. Turn iCloud off for Atta Kid and the app keeps working on that device alone.
What reaches us
Almost nothing, and only when it has to:
- ATTA AI. Questions are answered on the phone itself wherever Apple's on-device model can run. When it cannot, the question goes to our helper service and on to xAI's Grok model to be answered. What travels is the text of the conversation, the kid's age in years, a random install identifier and the app version. The kid's name, birthday, photo, points and tasks do not. Our own service keeps none of it — it passes the question on, hands back the answer, and writes down only that a request happened and how long it took. What xAI does with what it is sent is covered by xAI's privacy policy.
- Sign in with Apple. Apple tells the app your name and an email address — which is Apple's private relay address unless you choose otherwise. It is used to know that it is you, and it stays on the device and in your iCloud.
- Crash and performance reports reach us only if you have turned on sharing with developers in iOS. Those come from Apple, are not tied to a name, and we use them to fix crashes.
The microphone and the camera
A kid can say a wish out loud instead of typing it. Speech is turned into text with Apple's speech recognition, which on most modern iPhones happens entirely on the device; on older ones iOS may send the audio to Apple to transcribe. The recording is not kept and never comes to us. The camera and the photo library are used only when you pick or take a picture for a kid's avatar, and that picture stays on the device and in your iCloud.
Children
Atta Kid is set up by a parent, for use at home. Kids do not sign in, do not have accounts, cannot buy anything, and cannot send anything to us — the kid's side of the app has no way to reach the internet except through ATTA AI, and ATTA AI is on the parent's side. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have any, write to us and it will be deleted.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs, first- or third-party.
- No selling or sharing of personal information, in the sense California's law gives those words.
- No profiles built about you or your kids.
Who else is involved
- Apple — the App Store, Sign in with Apple, iCloud, speech recognition, and the on-device model.
- xAI — answers the ATTA AI questions the phone cannot, as described above.
- Hetzner — hosts the small service that passes those questions along, on a machine in Oregon.
Nobody else, and none of them is given your family's data to keep.
Your choices
- See it or change it: it is all in the app, on your device.
- Delete it: remove a kid in Settings → My Kids, or delete the app to clear that device. To clear the iCloud copy as well, go to Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Atta Kid.
- Turn off sync: Settings → your name → iCloud → Atta Kid.
- Skip the cloud model: if you would rather no question ever left the phone, do not use ATTA AI, or use it only on a device that runs Apple Intelligence.
If you are in California, the EU or the UK, you have rights to see, correct, export or delete personal information we hold about you. In practice we hold almost none — but write to [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days.
Changes
When this policy changes we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is one that matters.
